The Permit Room draws from workman dives of South India, converting their ethos into a hip and buzzing space – with all the earthy humour, but none of the grime.
Permit Rooms across the Deccan are usually deeper and darker than well, the deep, dark South.
Each dishes up its special touch (and “touchings”; fiery snacks served up with your moonshine) in terms of quixotic posters and mournful music.
We would have loved to have said we travelled the dusty plains, doing intensive research – only to give you an authentic feel of permit rooms. But fear not, we stayed in our favourite glam digs and conjured up the genuine thambi experience.
We hope you enjoy it: Everything is permitted here.
Minimal, simple and contemporary, the branding is strong and straightforward. Much like the bouncers at TPR.
Our interior effects are parodies of the various facets of Bangalore: from the chi-chi Cantonement to traditional Southie slices-of-life.
The food and drinks here are interesting. We think the accompaniments are as.
